Am article about the clinics available inthe Charleston-Dorchester-Berkeley region recently appeared in the Charleston Business Journal ?. It was quite interesting and pointed out that there are a number of clinics available to the uninsured in our region (their are more than 113 throusand uninsured in our area). The average cost of treating the uninsured at a clinic is $75, a far cry from the $1700 for an emergency room visit for the same problem!
Howewver, three hospitals (Bon Secours, Roper and East Cooper) are losing $1.63 million in funding in the next year, according to the article.
?I was unable to locate the list of free clinics on the www.charlestonbusiness.com website that they indicated in their article.
