A recent study in NY revealed there are vast differences between charges even across a region.  The study reviewed average charges billed to Medicare for 4 services – COPD, Kidney infections, Heart attack and Pulmonary Embolism.

According to a recent article in Newsday, charges for Heart Attack Care (where the patient was discharged alive) ranged from a low of $23,604.68 at Peconic Bay Medical Center, to a high of $103,734.18 at Montefiore Medical Center.

The range on COPD went from a low of $7,757 at JT Mather Hospital to a high of $14,733 at NY Presbyterian.
