Summerville SCORE Celebrates Grand Opening

SUMMERVILLE, S.C. – Summerville SCORE celebrated the expansion of its services at the Greater Summerville-Dorchester County Chamber of Commerce on Thursday, January 12, 2012, with a ribbon cutting to announce that it is now open for walk-ins every Thursday from 10:00 a.m. to 2:00 p.m. at 402 North Main Street in Summerville.

The event in Summerville is one of several announcements that the SCORE Coastal Chapter is making in 2012 to celebrate its 40 years of service to the Tri-County region.

During the ribbon cutting ceremony, remarks were given by Summerville Mayor Bill Collins, SCORE Coastal Chapter Chairman Joe Conti, and Dorchester County Council Chairman Larry Hargett.

“A SCORE counselor listens to ideas, offers simple and sound advice, gives encouragement from time to time, helps in the preparation of a business plan, walks through the steps to get a business started, and stays in contact with the new business. SCORE also offers courses to help run a business,” said SCORE Coastal Chapter Chairman Joe Conti of the announcement.

As the walk-in hours begin on Thursday, initial score counselors are Janice Campbell, Reeve Conover, Hank Cardarelli, Jim Friar, Henry Lewis, Steve Mizell, and Joe Mendrzycki. A counselor will be on duty at the office each Thursday from 10:00 a.m. to 2:00 p.m. Walk-ins are welcome during this time, and appointments are not required during these hours.

The Coastal Chapter of SCORE also provides a number of workshops and seminars during the year. Subjects include Business Start Up, Business Plans, Financial Resources, Legal & HR Issues, Using the Internet, Effective Marketing, Branding, and Small Business Bookkeeping. More information, as well as dates and locations can be found at the website, http://coastal.score.org. There is a small charge for seminars/workshops.
