3Unless you are insured through an employer after age 65, most people will need a Medicare Supplement Policy. Also known as Medigap Insurance, or Medigap policies, these programs come in several different types. The best medicare supplement depends on several factors and CC will custom-design the best choice for your individual needs.

Essentials of Medicare- Medicare provides basic coverage for those over age 65, or who are permanently disabled or have end-stage renal disease (ESRO). Because of gaps in coverage (such as a large deductible on hospitalization) many people choose to purchase either a Medicare Advantage Plan or a Medicare Supplement policy. These policies come in several forms – private fee-for-service programs, Medicare supplement, Medicare Choice (HMO) plans, and Part D Prescription coverage.

Medicare Advantage plans require you use participating providers only, typically are less expensive than Medicare Supplement plans, which allow you to use any physicians. Prescription Coverage (Part D) plans provide some coverage for prescriptions, which is not a benefit of Basic Medicare.

A great resource to understand and select a plan for Part D is www.planprescriber.com Another great site is the Medicare.gov site
At this site, you can learn more about Part D Plans, and actually input your medications and determine which plan is best for your particular situation.
