Why does the insurance company want my social?

Under the Affordable Care Act reporting requirements, form 1095-B is due to the IRS by February 28.  This form requires social security numbers be reported, as the IRS uses this to verify that individuals have the coverage required under the act.

Anyone not having coverage for 2015 will be fined the greater of 2%, or $325 per person ($162.50 if under age 18).
