UPS dropping Spousal Coverage, cites ACA

According to the Washington post, UPS is dropping 15,000 spouses from it health plan, netting a savings of $60 million.

The Affordable Care Act requires coverage for employees and children, but not spouses. and according to the memo they sent to the employees, “rising medical costs, combined with the costs associated with the Affordable Care Act, have made it increasingly difficult to continue providing the same level of health care benefits to our employees at an affordable cost,”
